At Carers UK, there mission is to make life better for the 5.7 million unpaid carers across the UK. Offering information, support, and advice to those who provide care for a loved one. Careres UK work to influence policy and have been campaigning with carers for 50 years, transforming understanding, and winning critical developments in carers’ rights.
Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers. Many do not see themselves as carers, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. The charities aim is to help these individuals recognise and understand their rights, and to access the support available to them, whenever they need it.
Carers Rights Day is a key moment each year where we come together to raise awareness of the rights of unpaid carers, ensuring that they know what support is available to them. This year, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 21 November 2024 – and this year’s theme is ‘Recognising your Rights.’
