Healers and Reiki practitioners consider themselves a channel for a universal ‘life energy’ that flows throughout everything in the universe. Reiki is a more ‘mechanical’ method of spiritual healing developed from Japanese philosophies.
What is Reiki?
Reiki practitioners channel particular vibrations of universal energy and place their hands on to their client’s body while doing so. Spiritual healers are more likely to hold their hands away from the individual’s body, channeling energy directly into their ‘aura’.
What is the purpose of Reiki and spiritual healing?
The ‘universal life energy’ is believed to flow both within the physical body and surrounding it, in what is known as the ‘aura’(also called the ‘etheric body’, ‘auric body’ and ‘energy body’). The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of an individual is understood to be held within the patterns and balance of energy flow of that particular person. Imbalances or ‘blocks’ in the energy can lead to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problems. A spiritual healer or Reiki practitioner believes that by tuning into and channeling some of the energy from the universe into that person’s energy body they can remove blockages, return balance and consequently improve the well-being of that person.
Benefits of Reiki and spiritual healing to the active person
Spiritual healing and Reiki can bring about a great sense of peace and well-being. It can also help pain relief and stimulate cell-regeneration and self-healing. Intuitive healers may be able to provide insight into deeper spiritual roots of particular stresses or pains.
