The Bowen technique works through a series of non-invasive gentle moves over muscle and connective tissue, which allow the body to reset and heal itself.
How is the Bowen technique applied?
The practitioner will leave the room for a few minutes between each set of moves, which allows the client the space to absorb the work and is thus an integral part of the treatment. The series of gentle rolling moves on the skin (or through light clothing) allows the practitioner to sense the tension and stress build-up in the muscle groups and at junctions with bone. He or she then utilizes the Bowen moves to release that stress, allowing the body to reset and heal itself. The healing process can be relatively immediate or over a number of days following the treatment.
Can active people benefit from the Bowen technique?
Bowen can be an effective treatment for muscular-skeletal, back and neck problems, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and R.S.I., accidents, posture, stress and tension-based reactions, migraine and recurring headaches, and many cases of emotional illness where relaxation is a prime factor in easing pain and anxiety.
