I entered the ballot as an International runner.  I guess I won't know until October if I got in.....based on forum comments regarding how difficult it is to get a spot, I am not confident that I will get a ballot spot.

So I am interested in charity fundraising; except I'm not sure if this option is open to international runners.....and also the time frame I would have to pursue this....

Any thoughts/suggestions????

Danny

Hey Danny, I never really thought of this. Is it more difficult for overseas applicants to get a place, or are you just in the ballot with the rest of us? Anyway, I wish you luck.....Smile~

PS. No offense intended with the american indian thing.... I'm sure it wasn't your fault?....Innocent ~

I'm not really sure how it works...I had the impression all the "non-standard" entries were evaluated separately, but I don't know for sure, and I don't know if that hurts or helps me.

I just know that after I ran the NYC Marathon last year, I decided I wanted to run in the best European marathon, and it seems that is the London Marathon!!!

I'm assuming I won't get picked and need to check into other options......

Hey Danny,

I wish you luck in getting a ballot place.  If you miss out, I hear Berlin is also a very good European Marathon to run...have you considered putting in a ballot place for that race?  Only thing is, it is held in Autumn (not spring like London).

If you know what charity you would like to run for, why not drop them an email?  Or, email a few and see what general response you get?

Keep us up to date!  Oh yeah, and congrats for completing the NYC Mara too!  Smile

Hi - You can get in by using the Marathon Tours travel agent (www.marathontours.com). They have limited spots, but you are required to book at last a 3 night hotel stay with them. Entry to London 2010 just became available on July 1st. They have bunch of other cool races too! Good Luck!

OMG - NO!!!!!!

lol...I spent Christmas day on the Great Wall...trust me, you DO NOT want to be running on that!!!!  I joked about it last year before we went, then when we got there...the steps are so huge and steep...I almost went into cardiac arrest just walking up the bugger Surprised

No, no, no, no.  Not my idea of fun!  lol.  The Norway Midnight Sun Marathon (that starts a midnight) would cool Smile

hello am here !

you can still raise money for a charity for a golden bond place just need to raise the minimum of £1600 - some charities up to £2500 and some £1200 - for us apply www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/londonmarathon. We send weekly emails and training plans so people overseas won't miss out -  we also have a few places left for Chicago - you would have to raise £1500

Or perhaps there are charities in the states that have places for London 2010

Good luck !

http://www.justgiving.com/angie2010 If i have inspired you please donate £2 - every little bit will make a difference to children with disabilities many of whom have had car accidents - Thank you
