Hello anybody and everybody
Anyone doing the Adidas Women's 5K challenge on 6th September?
I hope so...it feels very lonely out there...I am running, alone(no friends, no family) and going to raise money for guide dogs. I am not a runner(at all) but I needed something to do and focus on so I decided to take it up. Anyone got any training tips? Especially for someone who likes treadmill running rather than outdoor running
...I have been out in the park a few times but I still prefer the treadmill...
thanks!!!

Hi!
I'm with you. Am running the womens 5K on behalf of the Cf trust. I am neither a runner and prefer to train behind close doors like yourself and am dreading running outdoors also. I am desperate for any training tips so perhaps we could help eachother if either of us finds anything, let the other know....:-) However atleast we are getting out there and doing something positive, ah. Were gonna feel great for it afterwards! x x
You're not alone at all and never need to be! I train on my own all the time, (cos I live in the sticks and train at odd hours). The first time I ever ran with anyone else was when I lined up for the 2007 FLM! 36000 others! It's a fantastic feeling doing your first race and you'll never forget it. Just enjoy it and make the most of it. As for training tips, don't push yourself too hard first time, it's meant to be fun!!!!!! Good luck, let us know how its going?...
...Rainbowbear is definitely doing 'BEAVER' this year ?!?!?!?!?!?!"...

Thanks for the replies! And thanks for the advice. I'm glad to see there is also someone out there who likes the treadmill rather than the open road
How is your fundraising going? Well I have some money...not as much as I could be getting but its better than nothing I suppose. It just feels lousy in comparison to the people who raise thousands of pounds...still, I hope to see you there! I'll probably be the one @ the back walking because I'll be missing the treadmill, lol!!!
Training tips...well I try and go out as early as possible 1) so no one can see me 2) so I can get it over with 3) because I do feel better for the rest of the day. The girl @ the gym who is supposed to be my "personal trainer" says try mixing things up-do a slow jog for about 15mins one day then run the next. Also try walking for 2 mins, jogging for 3(thats how I started) but to be honest now I think I prefer the slow jog thing. Once I slow down and walk I end up stopping altogether. Ahhhhhh!!!

Hi!
I heard about this competition only in October, so it was late to subscribe. I am giving serious thought of participating next year.
Please tell me how it was this year, how as the atmosphere, etc. With how much time in advance do you have to subscribe?
Any information about it will be well apreciated. Thanks.
I done this in 2008. Signed up for 2009 but had to miss as last min wedding invite.
Liked the race and will hopefully be able to do next year.
It's in a good location. The crowd line pretty much of the whole course so great to cheer runners on. And the goody bag at the end isn't too bad either. Well organised.
I was surprised about the amount of runners but then I suppose it is a London event so a lot more then your average Race for Life!
Definitely a beginner friendly event so give it a go next year.
