Back in April we were talking in work about the London Marathon on tv coming up at the weekend and i told my colleagues that my usual line was to my wife Pauline that i am going to enter next year but i never do anything about it but not this time i watch the race took down the details of how to enter and the next day enter my details paid my money and had to wait until early October if i would be successfull in the main ballot. When entering details you had the options of putting your name to various charitys and this is were i would like to tell my story.

On the 1st of March a good friend of mine died of cancer at the age of 42 he was married with two children one of them Sarah suffers from Epilepsy and has done so from a young age it was the family choice that all donations were to be given to the Epilepsy Action Group, i applied through them to run the 2010 London Marathon meanwhile they came back to me and told me my name would be put on there list and also ask would i be intersted in running The Great North Run which i did and that was also a first for me and what a brilliant experience that was, having pick up a hip injury in training and out for seven weeks and only getting back running two weeks before the event i was well please of my time of 2hrs 13mins.Back to VLM like most people i miss out on the main ballot but received a nice VLM jacket, but on the 7th October Epilepsy contacted me and offered me a place on there team which i was very please to accept, having taken a break since GNR training starts this week and the hard work begins.

Think a bit of cross training that uses different muscles has to be a good idea
