Follow me on my journey to raise awareness of Lupus and become a marathon runner.

I will be running the 2010 London marathon to support my sister Viki after she was diagnosed with Lupus 18 months ago.

Money I raise from the marathon run will be used to help continue funding the Lupus UK specialist nurse and the Lupus UK research co-ordinator, both based at Queen Elizabeth/City Hospitals, Birmingham - the first fully patient-funded posts of their kind in the UK.

My moto: “Be All You Can Be!”

Invite to 10 Downing Street...

Stop the press! Amazing news!

Following a recent exchange of Tweets between myself and Sarah Brown, PM’s wife, I and members of Lupus West Midlands have been invited to an audience with Sarah Brown.

Sarah commented that she had knowledge of people who suffered from Lupus and offered to support my work to raise the profile of Lupus. As Yvonne Norton MBE, Chair of WMLG, has written her latest book, which guides doctor’s diagnosis of Lupus, I asked Sarah if she could help with the book’s launch. What’s more as it is Lupus awareness month in October I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to grab people’s attention.  Keeping my fingers crossed I awaited her response and although she is half way across the world with the Obamas she responded within hours and put me in contact with the appropriate people. So, on 6th October we will be travelling to Number 10 to meet Sarah Brown who has pledged to host an event to provide an amazing opportunity for me to raise awareness of Lupus, its effect and the options sufferers have when diagnosed!
