Overview

Marathon, n. ma-ra-thon. A long race usually of 26.22 miles (42.195Km)
ave. Est.17,728.9 strides. An activity, which takes a long time and makes you very tired (you're not joking). Conv. 46,145yds, 138,435 feet, 2,097chains, 8,390 rods, 209.75 furlongs, 415,305 hands. Usually resulting in sore feet, aching limbs, great sense of achievement & pride (much deserved) and I have run two so far

I have run the last two London Marathons and how have the bug to run more.
This will be my third attempt to get in via the ballot. Fingers crossed this year.
Follow my quest to sub4 glory, the ups & downs, the bad spelling, the races won & lost (mainly lost, actually I have never won a race).

We are different, in essence, from other men. If you want to win something,
run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.

My next Marathon is.........Halsted May 9th

new plans

13 days have passed since my last post, I have been having such lovely time of it over the last couple of weeks.

Weekend in London (without the Kids!!) stayed at the Hilton lovely eats at the Maze Grill wondering around Oxford Street hit a few bars, cocktails in Trader Vic’s. It’s funny but I believed that the weekend was to celebrate my birthday but I found myself paying for most of it! LOL. Also, I have watched with delight the autumn rugby tests with beer in hand, which is more than the players have with the ball too much kicking for my liking but I will still have a few pounds on England winning the next world cup !!!!. Anyway having drunk & eaten loads and I have fallen off the wagon bounced a few times down the road, and today I have claimed my seat back on the preverbal wagon (again).

This morning was a cycle into work 4.48miles in 18mins, abit wet & dark so no mad speed demons today. We are back to riding/running to work from now. We sold the spare car at the weekend. (which was Jodie’s for when she passed her test, only thing was she couldn’t see over the steering wheel being 4foot 8inches. In fact it’s been very difficult to find a driving school were she could touch the foot pedals!)

Plans for the further, I will be entering the Halstead Marathon in early May, then we are off to the USA for a holiday in Tennessee & Oregon to visit Friends who are planning a stay in log cabin up in the mountains, doing some trails and gem hunting? Then it’s New York Marathon time in November. Plus a few halfs along the way.

If you are bored with the same old music on your i-plod, get aload of these two sites fitmusic.com & podrunner.com both are free to download. Tracks from all are electro-beats, house and Drum&base if you like that sort of thing? Personally I don’t mind I and I find that audio books are a good companion on long runs too. On podrunner the tracks are specially mixed to hit heart rates zones and the latest set are set up for interval training which are not bad.

Good for you Daza - good to see your plans are coming together. We went out to support my running buddy Richard in New York which was amazing! So much so that me and Tracey and Richard and his wife have booked our places through 2:09 Events already!
So see you there!
Take care mate,
Tez.

A big blow out every so often does you good. Agree with you about there being too much kicking, it seems like we're always giving away possession as soon as we get it!

Now that sounds like a good weekend.
Good luck with your plans. We shall be expecting some great performances next year.

I keep falling off the wagon too , every week .
I'm aiming for New York too , as I'm 50 next December , good way to celebrate a month early.

Sounds like good times in London. Nothing quite like pretending you have your pre-children life for a day or two :-)
I've often wondered about giving an audiobook a go (or even some stand up comedy) a go for my long runs, so might just do that.
I came across podrunner one day too - I like running to trance music. Gets me in a fantastically hypnotic state where I can just go and go and go...
