This is my blog to keep people up to date on my progress towards the Virgin London Marathon 2010, which I am running to support the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) which provides support and information to new parents and parents-to-be.  If you feel able to sponsor me it would mean such a lot not only to me but those who use the NCT's services.

I have been running on and off for the past 15 years but its only now that I have really built the confidence and fitness to go further than 5 miles.  Completing a marathon has always felt like an impossible dream, but now it feels like it could be a possibility, especially now as I have a place! I live on the edge of the Cotswolds with my husband, two gorgeous young daughters and an elderly dog (my retired running partner).

So here is my journey, hopefully there will be lots of sweat, and not so much of the blood or tears.

Enjoy my pain.

Good run today with a pacer!

I got up early today to get an 8 miler in before taking the girls to a birthday party.  When I started my legs felt really heavy and I had no bounce, but after 4.5 miles I found a bit more rhythm.  As I came out of one lane another runner had just passed the junction and they were going my way.  Their pace was a bit faster than mine but I tried to keep up.  They ran all the way back to my village and I just about kept up all the way back.  I was out of my comfort zone, but following someone helped to keep me going.  I do have a competitive streak and hated the thought of being left behind.  So in the end my workout turned into a good one and I felt like I had achieved something.  My time was 1:12 exactly, but it felt like it should have been faster!  It was so warm though I was absolutely sweating cobs!  I think I might be a bit tired for a very long one tomorrow so may try for a steady 10.

Strangely I now have two witches running about the house, getting very excited about Halloween.  The pumpkins are carved, but I am hoping their dad will take them so I can put my feet up in front of Strictly!

Great run Suzie and ounds like you'd warmed up nicely for the first part and then having someone to pace you worked well for you. Happy running!
