Overview

After completing FLM 2007, Edinburgh 2008 and the Great Wall Marathon in 2009 - I thought it might be time to give the old body a rest from the full marathon this year.  BUT, I couldn't go a year without some sort of challenge!

So from November 2009 through to May 2010 I'm taking on the Endurancelife 7 x 7 x 7 Half Marathon Challenge.  This is a tough series of trail races on different parts of the UK coast - something to feed my newly found addiction to trail running thanks to the GWM last year!

Along the way I'm hoping to raise funds for Richmond Animal Care and Rescue.

As those of you who have come across my blog before will know - it'll probably also contain occasional rants about the world of veterinary science, descriptions of: drunken antics; live music played by sexy men; as much travel as I can sneak in around work and general musings on life as an Aussie ex-pat in the UK.

Although I belong in the 'General running' section now I'm staying in the VLM thread for now as it's been my blogging home for three years now and I can't bear to leave just yet!

Happy running everyone

Last minute lurgy

Frown All packed and ready to fly out tomorrow now.  Just one small problem.  I've been really ill  for the last four days.  Have had the worst cold/flu ever...its gradually moved from my sinuses down to my chest...hopefully that means that over the next few days it will clear completely.  The state I'm in now I can hardly get up off the sofa, let alone run an extreme marathon!  I've been sitting here today sounding a bit like Darth Vader.  And coughing up small jellyfish every half hour or so.  It's lovely.

Anyways, I am going to continue to stay positive and hope that I will be well enough to run by Saturday.  Although I dare say that I am stubborn enough to run regardless.

This will probably be my last post before leaving - so if you think of it late on Friday night -> send some good running vibes my way!  I'll be at the start line 7:30am Chinese time Saturday morning (11:30pm Friday here).  Have a great month and I'll blog again as soon as I can xx

All the very best, Colleen. Take care of yourself. I'm sure that cold will be fine by Saturday, but we'll always forgive you for dropping out if you're not feeling right. Good luck!

Fingers crossed for you that you feel better for the run, but take care not to make yourself more ill. Flu can really take it out of you for a while afterwards
