Overview

I'm Jo, I'm a 31 year old mother of 2 young children and a housewife and today I did something that I am hoping is going to change my life, I entered to run the marathon next year!!

Currently I struggle to run up the stairs or do the school run but I am detemined that with a lot of blood, sweat and tears I am going to do this.  I haven't got a clue where I'm going to start, or how, but after too many years of hiding behind my kids as a reason never to do anything today is the day I decided all of that ends and I am going to start doing all the things I always dreamed of and get off my fat arse and do it!!

I'm going to get up early tomorrow and go for a little jog, probably just round the block, and see how it goes.  Got to start somewhere!  I'm going to have a look at all the training advice etc on the website and maybe work out a timetable and set myself some goals, of course I may not even get to the end of the road tomorrow and then realise how stupid I really am and give up, thats what I usually do.  We'll see, and any encouragement, advice, abuse, would be much appreciated!!

Planned Races

6 December - Gloucester Park 5k

24 January - Benfleet 15 (miles)

25 April - Virgin London Marathon 26.2 miles

Booked my first race

After yesterdays great run decided to have a look at what races there are between now and the marathon in my local area.  There's a 5k at the beginning of December but for some reason the link wouldn't work so have e-mailed the lady organising it but booked myself a place on the Hadleigh 15 at the end of January.  Probably a bit soon to be running so far but love the route the race takes so thought sod it and booked it!!

Probably won't do a recovery run today but am going swimming instead so may make that count. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and think the rain that has been pounding the rest of the country has finally reached us!! Stay dry XX

Errrrrrrrrrr .......

I hope you can enjoy the race, I only say that as I've struggled and gasped my way round many a race that I wasn't prepared for.

Can I suggest you start to experiment with a few Gel's and anticipate being out over four hours in all weather.

Don't want to put you off or anything, I've done two marathons having run no further than 13 miles in training, and it can be done, it just hurts.
