I ran FLM  2007 for the charity Childhood First - it was an awesome, exciting, incredible experience.  I ran FLM 2008 for the Teenage Cancer Trust It was wet, cold and horrible...

I didn't get a place for 2009 so decided not to run....BUT ALL WAS NOT LOST - instead, in September 2009, I cycled from London to Paris to raise funds for Kidney Research UK.

AND NOW, MUCH TO MY AMAZEMENT, I HAVE A BALLOT PLACE FOR THE 2010 VLM ! YAY! And I will be running to raise funds for KIDNEY RESEARCH UK - also hoping to run New York too...

Chi Running + noisy neighbours...

Since our next door neighbours are having a party, playing loud, offensive music  and have a garden full of yacking, screaming, smoking youfs who are enjoying letting fireworks off even though it is after midnight,  I thought I would blog. It will stop me becoming too psychotic. Possibly. No point in trying to sleep. No point in asking them to shut up. The joys of living in surburbia....Agggggghhhhh!

So. Today I attended a Chi Running workshop and it was excellent. I have come away feeling really inspired and determined to focus on the process of running for a change, instead of the emphasis being on speed and mileage. It will be an interesting time.

We were guided through loads of exercises and drills which demonstrated what Chi running is all about - in a nutshell (and this doesn't really do it justice, so if you want to know more do Google Chi Running) it's all about effortless, efficient and injury free running where you let gravity do a lot of the work for you. This is achieved by specific posture focusses and techniques. It's not easy because basically you have to re-learn how to run and wait for muscle memory to click in so that it becomes second nature but with a lot of practice and patience it is achievable. It makes total sense to me and I am going to give it my best shot. And if you are plagued by injury consider reading the book (you can buy it from Amazon) or attending a workshop because it works. There are only four Chi Running practitioners in this country at the moment and I attended a workshop in London today - pm me if you want more info.

I will blog more on this next week when I've started my practice.

Hx

Good luck with the practicing - have talked to a couple of people who tried it and one loves it but the other didnt stick at it long enough - you have to be quite dedictaed I think.

Good luck with it

Would be nice.

As for neighbours, sometimes legalising guns seems like a good idea. No-one seems to have any courtesy in the country anymore, from shoppers, to drivers, to work colleagues.

We're a nation of w*nkers in some respects.

Ho Hum!

Rant over.

MB always gets a laugh out of me...

As for the chi-running - sounds really interesting; don't think I have the patience though.

Re-learn to run, not sure I got it the first time! I have spoken with a guy at a seminar in Sweatshop one day about it and it makes perfect sense especially for people that may have very inefficient running styles.
