MY STORY SO FAR..............

My name is Sue and I started running 2 and a half years ago, on a couch to 5K programme - and then just kept going!   My first race was the Adidas 5K womens challenge in Hyde park 2 years ago - and then I was persuaded to do a 10K race....and then a half marathon!

Last year, I lost my mum after she had a stroke.  I'm not new to the devastation that a stroke can inflict not only on the victim, but also people around - my dad suffered a massive stroke when in his early 60's and I was a teenager.  I answered a plea in our local paper to help at a new series of fund-raising runs organised by The Stroke Association and I decided that I'd set myself the challenge of running the London Marathon for the Stroke Association.  And so here I am, hoping to raise loads of money and run the race of my life.

CARPE DIEM!

Today's run wasn't at all what I'd set out to do.  7 miles was on the schedule, but the weather was just so lovely, and there have been so may rainy runs recently, that I decided I'd see how far my legs took me. Not really planning a LSR as such, but 16 miles later - job done for the week!  Snails pace mind you, (10;22m/m).  But there was running club last night, which was a session of meet and retreat for 10 minutes (with a partner you run opposite ways round the track and turn round when you meet them) and then 200m sprints in groups of three (person 1 runs, tags person 2 who runs and tags person 3, then back to person 1).

Still it now frees up Friday for a shorter run and then some Christmas shopping and birthday present shopping for daughter number one who will be 23 on December 12th.

16 miles that is brilliant well done! I am only up to 10 as well.
It is great when you only go out for a shorter run and end up doing a long one instead.
